This lightweight hand dyed cotton gauze ribbon has an open weave and a slightly wrinkled texture. Gauze ribbon is a perfect accent for your weaving and macraweave projects.
Also known as scrim or cheesecloth, cotton gauze is a wonderful airy fabric that is good for all sorts of crafts especially nuno felting and embellishing other wet felting projects. It can be manipulated or frayed to provide texture in needle felting, textile art, scrapbooking, mixed media work, and embroidery.
- Ribbon width is approximately 1.5 - 2.5"
- Ribbon length is listed on each colorway
Because the rustic edges are hand torn, they will fray to varying degrees and the width may vary.
Each variety is a limited edition, dyed by Angela. Once a colorway is sold, I may have similar colors available in the future but each dye run is unique.
Notes about potholder weaving with gauze ribbon:
- 20 feet is not quite enough to warp a traditional loom using every peg. If using loops for the balance (I have found two loops on each side to work well), consider using pro size loops .... because the gauze has no elastic... traditional loops would.draw the edges in so that the weaving would not lay flat.
- This width/weight of gauze ribbon also works well as warp at 2/3 density .... that is using 2 of every 3 pegs (skip every 3rd peg or alternate wrapping around 1 peg with wrapping around 2 pegs).
- Consider skipping the first and last weaving rows, which will make bind off easier and the finished weaving sit flatter.
