Colorway

These loop sets have been curated by me for optimum results with my included Chunky Star pattern.

About these colors:

  • Each curated colorway will be available for a limited time.
  • The typical loop packs designed for this pattern contain 8 each of 6 colors (4 hand-dyed colors and 2 pre-trimmed standard Friendly Loom colors), which gives you some choices with this pattern:
    • Select 5 of the 6 colors and use the same color for 2 adjacent pattern steps.
    • Work through the available colors and then double back through your preferred spectrum.
  • An occasional non-typical set may include fewer loops each of more colors, but always in sets of 4 so they will work with the pattern, and always with 48 total loops. These sets are marked with an [*].
  • Of course, you can also supplement these sets with additional solid color loops for use with patterns that highlight a few special loops.

About this pattern:

'Chunky Star' is a variation on my popular 'Chunky Plaid' multi-directional split loop twill potholder pattern. It is charted for 19-pin loom and can also be reduced to weave 17 pins on an 18-pin loom.

This tutorial including separate color charts for each of 18 pattern steps plus step-by-step photos as a Digital Download in PDF format that will be sent to you when you order the loops.

More Premium Loops

Also available:

  • Chunky Plaid is the original multi-directional split loop twill pattern and is charted for 17x17, 25x25, and 29x29 pins
  • Chunky Daisy Chains adapts a simple split-loop weaving motif into a versatile with rows of flowers arranged either into a cross or into a frame.

These loops are made from recycled cotton yarn from recycled from fabric waste. Cotton loops are pleasing to the touch, enjoyable to weave, and your finished weavings look amazing! I've already hand-trimmed them for you, to greatly reduce the loose threads often present with standard loops. Because they’re cotton, potholders made with these loops are heat safe and won’t melt like craft store loops! I use professional fiber-reactive dye and a thorough rinse/soak/wash process, so they can be machine washed and hung to dry.

The directions were easy to follow

The directions were easy to follow. I liked having the option to order the curated loop set so I could easily replicate on of the color examples shown. The loops were very nice to work with, and the sublte variegated colors were beautiful.

Great color selection and easy to follow pattern! Would recommend to anyone wanting to try a new weaving technique, don’t have to think too much about color placement, and the result was soooo satisfying!
